*Please note: Lead times are subject to change.
Q: How do I place an order?
A: We prefer scheduling a time to meet with us in our shop for a design consultation, especially for the design of a custom live edge furniture piece. Photos will never do justice in showcasing the natural beauty of a piece of wood. (Added bonus: wood shopping is super fun!) However, we can certainly discuss details via email or over the phone if needed. For larger custom cabinetry or millwork projects, in-space consultations are necessary to acquire accurate measurements as well as a feel for the space. Please utilize our contact form under the contact page to get started!
Q: What are the payment expectations?
A: We require a 50% non-refundable deposit for all custom furniture orders, which will secure a slot in our production schedule. Final balance is due at the time of delivery or pickup. Larger projects, such as custom cabinetry or millwork, will require a contract and a set payment schedule to be determined on a per-project basis. We offer wholesale and tax exempt pricing for designers, architects, cabinetry dealers, and business owners. We also have a pretty amazing referral program! Ask us for more info!
Q: Can I match a custom piece with an existing piece that I have already grown to love in my home?
A: Absolutely! Custom finishes are our specialty. We proudly offer color matching services, meaning we can match both stained and painted finishes. We also offer our own broad spectrum of custom finishes, ranging from custom stains and wet glazes, Antik Tinktur dry glazes, and distress options. Q: I love that coffee table. Can I get one just like it?
A: Yes and No. We can certainly build a furniture or cabinetry piece according to design preferences and specifications, but wood is a unique organism. Color, grain patterns, and natural characteristics such as knots, splits, and mineral marks are unique to the tree from which the wood was harvested. Just like you and me, each tree is different and beautiful in its own way, exhibiting truly unique characteristics different from any other tree.
Q: How do I ensure you build to my specifications?
A: We offer 3D SketchUp renderings, spec sheets, and finish samples per a client's request to be approved prior to beginning any custom project. We also offer Chief Architect 3D space renderings for larger custom cabinetry projects, showing the design details of the cabinetry that will be installed in your home. For custom cabinetry design rates, please refer to the services page. We will address every detail to make sure everyone is on the same page. Your satisfaction is very important to us!
Q: What finish do you use?
A: We use a VOC compliant catalyzed conversion varnish, from the industry leader AcromaPro, in a spectrum of sheen options ranging from satin matte to high gloss. All clear top coat and paint is spray-applied at our finishing facility. We do not apply any of our varnish finishes on-site. We also offer 0% VOC Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil finishes on select furniture pieces for a more natural look + feel.
*Please note: We have the ability to color match any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint color.
Q: What is seasonal wood movement?
A: Wood fibers swell as they absorb moisture and shrink as they release it, causing the wood to expand and contract. As the relative humidity increases in the summer and decreases in the winter, wood will respond to these seasonal changes through movement. Seasonal movement is to be expected.
Q: How do I care for my new furniture or cabinetry piece?
A: We always suggest using coasters and placemats to protect the surface from condensation and extra hot temperatures. As far as cleaning, a dry duster or slightly damp cloth will do the trick! Harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, and furniture polishes are not necessary and can potentially damage the finish. (Check out our Care Guide below for more tips!)
